Husband: Good morning.
Wife: Good morning.
Husband: How do you feel?
Wife: Great.
Husband: I’m sure.
Wife: What do you want for breakfast?
Husband: Whatever.
Wife: I’ll fix you some scrambled eggs
H: Fine.
W: Are you going to work this morning?
H: Have to.
W: Oh.
H: Do you want me to stay home?
W: It’s up to you.
H: I can’t.
W: Like I said, it’s up to you.
Reflection:
I wanted to do something that could be interpreted into any kind of mood, something that could be twisted around to fit the writer’s objection. This dialogue between husband and wife could be strained, or it could be curious, with both sides seeking approval from each other. It’s not very easy creating dialogues that are true yet interesting. Personally I feel like the conversations I have with people I am close to have a more personal tone rather to acquaintances whereby sometimes it gets awkward and general, something to chat about to fill in the silence that don’t necessarily captivate you. I feel that writing a dialogue for characters involves putting ourselves in their shoes, familiarising ourselves with their POV and the mood they are in. We ask ourselves how a character would react if we had their personality traits when in a conversations with others. Only then do we get an idea of what they would say.

Where’s your audio recording of the dialogue? The criteria was recording the dialogue you wrote and post it on the blog.
